Mario Badescu Acne Control Kit Review

Mario Badescu Acne Control Kit comes from a company originally founded by esthetician Mario Badescu. The company has since been passed on, and they claim to maintain his high standards to create simple, effective, and safe skincare products.

The Mario Badescu Acne Control Kit includes 6 pieces including an acne facial cleanser, a special cucumber lotion, a drying mask, drying cream, and drying lotion. They advertise this as the perfect kit to quickly and effectively eliminate acne eruptions, finally keeping your acne under control with salicylic acid, a “deep-cleansing, disinfecting astringent.” But let’s find out if this kit is worth the combined $77.

Mario Badescu Acne Control Kit provides 5 short lists of “acne fighting” ingredients. To their credit, they do use ingredients such as salicylic acid and sulfur, both of which eliminate bacteria while fighting acne in a number of other ways. Other ingredients such as hyaluronic acid also work to moisturize the skin to protect it from dryness and damage. But these are the only active ingredients found in Mario Badescu Acne Control Kit.

Fillers & Preservatives

While they have 3 active ingredients, the majority of their ingredients could be described as mineral oils, titanium dioxide, and other irritants with potentially serious side effects. These fillers and preservatives can cause redness, irritation, peeling, and other all too common side effects. They even break down healthy skin cells, increasing the recurrence of acne, and titanium dioxide can have toxic effects, even causing lung cancer in rats. But they do not contribute to healthy and gentle benefits to the skin.

Overall Conclusion

Mario Badescu Acne Control Kit’s popularity is largely based on the name of a now well-known esthetician. They originally sold this product to their own spa clientele. Now they sell in part based on celebrity endorsements. However, whatever they have in celebrity endorsements, they fail to provide in clinically proven acne fighting formulas.

While difficult to find, they do provide full ingredients lists. Based on these ingredients lists, we can safely say that Mario Badescu Acne Control Kit does not have the clinically proven amounts, and most of their ingredients are more detrimental to the skin than they are helpful in the fight against acne.
