Glycemic Foods & Acne

I was reading through random studies, some of which I found rather entertaining to say the least.  But there was one concerning acne.  This I already knew to some degree.  But apparently some people thought that chocolate was the cause of acne breakouts.  I could see it, I mean if you eat excessive amounts of the chocolate we eat, you get milk, which does cause acne, you get sugar, which does cause acne, etc.  But the chocolate itself does not cause acne.

The actual study I found showed that a diet rich in low glycemic index foods would cause less acne.  Essentially speaking, these would be foods that would not cause a sudden spike in the blood sugar and have greater value in general.  They don’t turn to basic sugar as quickly as other foods.  Some examples would be complex carbs and fruits.  It was rather small for most studies, and apparently it included a group of 43 teenage boys eating different types of food.  I would like to see it repeated in a larger study.  But anyway the boys who ate foods low on the glycemic index reduced acne by 50%, which is pretty impressive, no matter the study as long as it is legitimate of course.
