Acne Treatments Reviews and Product Information

There are myths about just about everything, and without question, acne is one of them. There are so many prevalent myths about acne, because sometimes they do seem to coincide with bouts, even if they are not the sole cause. But for the most part, they are simple coincidences, contributing to a bigger problem but realistically showing only symptoms rather than the disease itself. So here are the myths
- Acne is caused by bad hygiene
For some people, they could wash their face at least 5 times per day and not see their acne go away. They would more likely dry out the skin, leaving it flaky and red. But they would still have acne. Bad hygiene can certainly contribute to bouts of acne, making it worse. But it is not actually the cause. So the best thing to do is to wash your face gently without all the harsh chemicals some products have.
- Caffeine, chocolate, and fried foods are the culprits
While these foods can increase oil production within the skin and aggravate acne, they are again not the cause. They contribute to a bigger problem. But if the sebum is really that big a problem, chances are your skin produces too much anyway.
- You can cure your acne
Acne is not a curable disease. You grow out of it over time or you don’t. When you’re younger, your hormones are raging, and it is a natural part of everybody’s life. No matter what pills you take, what scrub you use, etc. you won’t be “curing” your acne any time soon.
- Stress is at the root of my acne
Yes, stress can cause flare ups. It can cause you to sweat more, produce more oils, etc. But it is only a contributing factor and not the root cause.
- It’s my own fault
To some degree yes, but to another point no. Acne occurs because of many reasons, and moreover, acne scars occur for many reasons. If you don’t wash your face you are more likely to aggravate your acne just as you are more likely to aggravate acne scars by picking at zits and popping them. But even if you wash your face regularly you may still get acne and if you never pick at or pop zits, you may still get acne scars.
